Double Seconds
Double Seconds are comprised of two barrels and are in a lower range than lead pans. They are more effective playing harmony while still being high pitched enough to be a melody instrument. The lowest note is about a half octave below middle C and the instument has a range of about 2 & 1/2 octaves chromatic. We offer the two popular tunings pictured in the diagrams below and can also produce a custom tuning. They are available in high gloss black, high gloss chrome and and standard chrome.

VistaPans are available in the following finishes

Hi-Gloss Chrome Finish

The hi-gloss chrome produces a  thicker fuller tone and warmth while providing a spectacular mirror like finish. A fully professional instrument with extra care taken to ensure consistency and balance in tuning.

Standard Chrome Finish

Chrome pans produce slightly more resonance in the lower notes than the hi-gloss black. When compared to a painted pan, chrome pans have a fuller, brighter tone due to the fact that paint often restricts the free vibration of higher notes and causes a somewhat more "clunky" sound. After the chroming process, the master tuner must retune the entire instrument and the more time spent tuning, the better the tone.

Hi-Gloss Black Finish

Chrome is a classic look for a pan, but the high gloss black is a more quality consistent finish. Many people find it more appealing to the eye than the chrome pan. Hi-Gloss Black is a new thicker material that adheres to the metal much like a chrome giving it a sound very close to a chrome pan resulting in a more brilliant resonance.

Paint Finish

The painted pan produces a more full and deep tone that is usually a more desirable sound for members of the lower instrument family such as cello, guitar and bass.
