Double Tenors
Double Tenors are most often used in larger pan ensembles as a color
instrument and to double the melody that the lead pans are playing but in a
lower harmony. The range is similar to the double seconds ( 2 & 1/2 octaves
starting about a half octave below middle C). Compared to the Double
Seconds, they have a more mellow sound which is well suited to it's harmony
role but have comparatively less bite, making them not as desirable for main
melody in a small ensemble. Pictured below is a popular tuning that we
offer. We also can make them in a custom tuning.
